Shelter Pets of the Day

PAWS Atlanta took 10 of the Alabama 44 from HSUS.  Laura at PAWS Atlanta has kept me posted on their progress and wrote this weekend to tell me that 7 of the dogs are now on the adoption floor:

7 of the 10 dogs we received from Alabama have been made available for adoption.  The others will soon follow.  They are doing great and seem to appreciate all the attention the staff and volunteers are lavishing on them.

Here are the dogs currently available:

Imogen, female, 9months
Temple, female, 8 years
Grandin, female, 8 months
Morgan, male, 3 years
Livingston, male, 8 months
Punky, male, 1 year
Cora, female, 3 years

  1. So glad to see yet another success story on these dogs! Those groups that stepped up and offered to help have done wonderful…well the ones that let them live and give them a chance to get accustomed to “normal” doggie life style.

While I understand we have to hear the sad stories, as well as the happy ones. This is by far my favorite part of this! Thanks YB for all you have done to keep the rest of us informed as to where the dogs are & how they are doing!

    1. I’m glad so many people have been interested. It shows, yet again, how caring the public is, despite what some shelter directors say. I am grateful to groups like PAWS Atlanta who stepped up and took dogs that were challenging to get ready for adoption and committed to working with them to get them there. Both PAWS Atlanta and HS of Etowah Co (in AL) have worked with these dogs for many weeks and have been transparent in their efforts. That’s why I want to support them.

      1. Yes on transparent. Props to those who are being. Agree with @Erica. Wonderful to see these faces. Praying to see those of the three still unaccounted for, not by [stated by] HSUS** but by Shirley. “When we speak of “mitakuye oyasin” [all my relatives], we know always that the growing and moving things of the earth, the winged, the four-legged, and the two legged are all children of the earth and they, too, want to live. So we say mitakuye oyasin.” Black Elk

  2. Zowie! Can you tell these guys are related???? LOL. They are all so beautiful. Thank you PAWS Atlanta for all of your hard work in prepping these babes for their new lives. If the 8yo cannot find a home, please contact us.

  3. Wow, what beautiful dogs! So glad they’re in a good, safe place and will be cared for until they get adopted. It must have been pretty amazing to see all 44 together in one place before they were “seized”–they look VERY alike, lol. Funny that they named one “Temple” and one “Grandin.” Hope all find wonderful homes.

  4. Wow, I’d be all over Morgan if I were in a position to adopt any more dogs. He just has one of THOSE looks. Heh. They are all very cute. I notice the shelter also has a lot of other REALLY cute dogs. Glad to see somebody doing it right for these dogs.
