Hi everyone: Remember the Morrow County OH animal shelter that had the flood? Well, we have the opportunity to help them, by taking a little one who nobody wanted (a JRT/Doxie mix) named Bodie. We need to raise $300 to get him to NY: About 150 for his vetting and neutering and the rest for transport from OH to NY. ALSO, if anyone knows a transporter(s)I would appreciate the help, because we have never worked with this part of the country. The dog has to get to Eastern NYS, near the MA border. THANKS AND PLEASE HELP!

Morgana – Please add any additional info you have for us in the comments.  Do you have a Chip-in set up for the fundraising?

  1. I generally drive transports between OH, PA, and NY… perhaps if you get in touch with OTRA folks (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OnTheRoadAgain/) you can find a coordinator who can help set it up. Generally, we all spend our own gas money on the transports I run (limited to once a week now, except in rare cases), but if you have gas money to offer, that helps as well. I’m not up for trying to coordinate, I don’t have that many contacts and am not organized enough to try. Maybe there’s a shot at getting Bodie on with another transport? I’m not sure how that all works.

  2. How do I get in touch with OTRA without having to join yet another group???? I really want to help this dog!

    1. I just join groups on Yahoo and then put the settings as NO MAIL. That way I can visit the group on the web whenever I have time to read and not have messages filling up my inbox otherwise.

  3. Morrow County is about 45 minutes away from me. While I can’t commit to doing transports or anything – I know that their dogs, when adopted cost $130 and it includes dog license (which wouldn’t be needed), vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm testing. They are only open Mon-Thurs from 10 to 4 and Sat & Sun 10 to 2…I believe they will see people on Fridays but you have to make an appointment. If needed I could possibly pull him for you – but not sure about how long I could keep him as we are somewhat maxed out and I might be having another dog coming anyday. And I do not know what their pull fees are for rescues…the shelter number is 419-946-1747 – if anyone needs it. Let me know if I can help in any way.
