New Zealand: On Thursday, a 12 year old boy named Damon Boyer-Marwood was walking home from school when he heard a dog crying out in pain. He found a group of school boys with a dog pinned down to the ground. The boys were taking turns kicking the dog and hitting her with a cricket bat. Damon told the boys to stop and they ended up running off. He picked up the injured dog, carried her to a friend’s house and called the Wellington SPCA.
Via a microchip, the dog was reunited with her owner. The owner asked to meet Damon in person:
“I want to thank him from my heart, I want to know his face.”
Everyone involved is applauding Damon’s bravery and action:
Damon’s grandmother Jenny Marwood said she was proud of him. “It makes you wonder what would have happened if he didn’t step in.”

THAT CHILD IS MY HERO…GOD PUT HIM THERE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF SAVING THAT DOG FROM HIS DEATH. I’M SURE GOD WILL CONTINUE TO TELL HIS SOUL WHAT ELSE HE NEEDS TO DO TO HELP OTHERS. HE IS HIS CHILD. HUGS TO HIM. HIS MOM SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF HIM.
It hurts my heart to watch that video. A person comes into the building, clocks in and walks away completely indifferent to the fear that dog being dragged along the hall must be feeling. Would it KILL him to bend down, offer a kind hand, a kind word… tell him/her that it will be okay (even if it’s not….). It’s THAT attitude that makes me want to be violent… against people.
Is this MAS? No matter where it is… it’s breaking my heart.
And to the little boy’s family… I want to thank them for raising a compassionate human being.. well done!

As for the footage -again again I see things that I didn’t know until I got on facebook. That was 2009. Now, after 3 years of seeing what I don’t want to see – but I can’t turn my back, I just don’t understand – the answer it seems so simple – shut down the puppy mills make it mandatory to spade or neuter unless a licensed breeder and limit the licensed breeders to 4 females. Simple – what is wrong with this country we are no better than the countries mass murdering dogs in the streets – we just do it behind closed doors and call them rescue or shelters! By the way Puppy Mills were the Federal governments idea for the farmers to make money after WWII – why can’t a federal law shut them down? OH all so maddening!

Are we to assume that dog should consider himself lucky to be dragged down that nice clean hallway? This is animal control at its finest………………..? Just too disgusting to even imagine.

Yay Damon! thank you for showing your courage and love ~ as for the other boys….one or all of them will probably grow into a serial killer. the video above is sad. prev comment mentions why doesn’t the man reach down and show the dog kindness…ARE YOU BLIND? the woman is the one who should learn how to love….it’s her own dog. perhaps the dog doesn’t like to walk on hard slippery floors….maybe she is not abusing the dog on any other level….however, dragging the dog that far down the hall like that is abuse enough in itself. there are other ways to transport larger animals…get a wagon. research the problem and find a solution. if all else fails, move ~
Now there is a boy who was raised right & who had the guiding hands to teach him right. And he did, unlike the low class heathens who tried to hurt this animal.
Unfortunately there are too many heathens out there, young and adult, like that. Some even go under the disguise of animal control shelters’ officials….

Damon, thank you so much!!! What a hero! When more people hear your story, perhaps they will see it takes more of a man to stand up for those not able, especially those with no voice!!
I am in awe and disgust with all the ACO cruelty stories and videos out there. Are there any that take pride in their work and want to try to help, try to create solutions, etc. Are there any out there that treat the animals with any form of compassion and kindness??? It is not the animal’s fault, even if they are aggressive. Chances are that is what they have become in order to survive, perhaps.

Yes, there are. They’re out there, doing their job every day and doing it right. It’s just hard to remember it sometimes when you see all the ones who are doing it wrong.

When you are hiring for any job the most important question would be is “Is this your passion?” I wouldn’t hire a person with a bad back and black thumb to work with plants or a person who had didn’t adore fashion to sell clothing. Why then is it not the most important question whether they love and respect animals?? It’s seems pretty clear that most “shelters” hire from a pool of cold hearted, slow witted sadists. Absolutely without compassion, morality or respect on the barest level.
I would love to show this film everywhere these people went to church/shopped/where their children went to school. Apathy is appalling!! Would you let that woman near your children?? Sit at your table or rent a house from you?? HELL NO!!
