In New Braunfels, Texas, we are struggling to get access to the animals at our high-kill city/county shelter, which is operated by the New Braunfels Humane Society. They keep half the pets at the shelter hidden from the public and secretly kill many of them. Please let our city leaders know that you care about where you spend your tourist dollars! Thank you!
Can you please share Snow White’s photo? She’s available at Medina County SPCA in Medina, Ohio and she’s been there a while. She’s got a mild neurological issue, but is otherwise healthy. She’s dog-selective and cannot be with cats or small animals, but is very people-friendly –
One commenter says that this guy is crazy, but the right kind of crazy. They couldn’t afford to repair the truck, but people have been sending donations to help cover the damage.
Want to share that I’ve adopted two senior dogs in the past month who I expected to be with me to their ends. They are both very happy in new families. Senior dogs make GREAT pets; the Coonhound has his own boy :).
Advocates continue to try to get shelters to implement all the life saving programs that will make Colorado a No Kill State. Short of that, they have worked to implement legislation that will move regressive shelters to that goal faster. But there are the status quo opposition that ‘Don’t want to kill pets” but say they have no choice and the law will hurt the shelters (you know, by saving pets instead of killing them).
Blog post today about the legislation: http://www.savingcoloradoshelterpets.org/2014/06/15/if-we-eliminate-their-right-to-life-no-other-rights-matter/
UGH! I am so tired of animal shelter leadership saying they don’t want to kill, but have no choice! And pretending to care-oh-so-much while continuing to KILL.
Pet owner speaks out after neighbor charged with a felony in cats’ deaths
“Prosecutors did offer Ingram a plea deal back in September, but she declined the offer. If convicted on this aggravated animal cruelty charge, she could face up to 10 years in prison.”
Please sign: Max penalty for California man filmed while repeatedly beating Cocker Spaniel!
You may want to consider not watching the video, and just sign the petition. This happened in California but you can SIGN FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! PLEASE SIGN & PASS THIS AROUND. This man must be as exposed.
“The heroes of the day are two boys from Chino Hills, California, who managed to save the life of a Coker Spaniel. The kids heard a dog crying outside and went to check things out, only to see the owner beating the poor dog with a stick repeatedly. They ask their mother to call Animal Services and, in the meantime, grabbed a camera and starting filming the whole scene. During the seven minutes of the video, you can see how the animal whimpers and jump in terrified whenever his owner approaches. Mookie is poked and hit repeatedly with a stick. “I bet he does that every day” is one of the kid’s comments.”
Quick — before it gets deleted! This coonhound was getting sicker and sicker. The shelter watched him get sicker and sicker. Yesterday, someone (staff? volunteer?) started to network to raise money to get poor dog to a vet. People started pledging, but guess what, he was found dead this morning.

Signed. Terrible situation. :-(
A haunting story of a whale who tried to speak to humans, using human speech. A sound file is included in the story.
