A sleeping-kittens montage from a year and a half ago, by a kitten foster in Tacoma, Washington, who I knew was a gifted photographer — but whose videos I had never seen. Kitten bellies and kitten toes, for whatever ails you.

Orange County animal “shelter” is no longer identifying dogs by breed. The goal is to increase adoptions by eliminating labeling dogs as pit bulls and pit bull mixes.

That’s interesting. Don’t know if it will work, but it’s interesting.
I know that other places were going for “American Shelter Dog” as a breed identification.
I wonder if it can go to something like cats have – Domestic Short Hair, Domestic Long Hair, etc.?

A Costa Rica group did something fun and effective, but creating an individual breed type for every dog so people get their single unique breed that no one else has: the Bunny Tailed Scottish Terrier, Furry Chested Jack Beagle, Marbled English Filamarner, Fire Tailed Border Cocker. I find the idea interesting. It would be some work for the shelter or rescue, but one creative person could pop them out easily. See video here: http://www.wimp.com/adoptdogs/

I came across this today and it touched my heart. There is one organization that has taken on the challenge of these forgotten dogs who deserve humane treatment too, all because of Francis.
