Greetings From The Black

After paying for the upgraded plan and working out some tech issues (with the help of WordPress Support), the blog is, I hope, back online. It should appear ad free and look as it did before going dark. Since my view of the blog differs from what readers see, I would appreciate feedback if you notice anything awry so I can get it fixed.

It’s been a damn week. Besides fearing I’d lost the blog and trying to save my work, a couple of other lousy things happened. First, I had to let Mulder go due to severe osteoarthritis in all her joints which rendered her immobile. She received hospice care for a month, being carried here and there so she could be at my side, which was the only place she ever wanted to be. But eventually, even being picked up was too painful for her and it was time. Losing her has broken my heart in ways I didn’t realize it could break. I miss her.

Five days later, an elderly lady who should have been stopped at a stop sign on a cross street pulled out in front of me as I was driving down an intersecting road. We crrrrraaaaaashed. She was uninjured, somehow, and told me she had just picked up her car from the shop after it was repaired from her last wreck. Both our cars had to be towed away and I am waiting to hear if it’s possible to repair mine. For the love of ponies, if you have elderly loved ones you know shouldn’t be driving but have avoided having the conversation because it’s uncomfortable, please have the conversation.

Anyway, I’m glad to have the blog back and look forward to getting back to posting about vintage dog life soon. Thanks for reading. Also we’re losing our democracy, the government is disappearing our neighbors, everything is terrible and I love you. I think that just about catches us up.
