Source: WikipediaThis blurb in the January 1917 issue of Vanity Fair seems to be false. Prince John had severe epilepsy and was kept away from his family and most other people, as was the custom at the time, and his illness kept a secret. He died in January 1919, at the age of 13. The story of him joining the navy might have been offered as a cover for his absence from the royal family.Vanity Fair, March 1917Two photos from a coursing meet in England in Vanity Fair, June 1917Vanity Fair, July 1917
