The reference to “anti-dog men” reflects an attitude among some farmers that dogs were sheep (and other farm animals) killers and unworthy of consideration. The requests regarding airedales stems from the letter featured at the top of this post. As for adorable Belle, she appears to have eaten more than her share of mice.
