The year 1897 marked Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, celebrating sixty years as England's monarch. In the February 20 issue of Country Life Illustrated, the queen's dogs received their own tribute, snippets of which follow. Included are collies, Pomeranians, a Skye terrier and Italian mountaineer dogs - a type of sheepdog.
