  1. I don’t remember the name, but I *think* they’re a sort of goat from the Himalayas on into Central Asia. Or was it goat-antelope? There was something odd about them, but the memory just won’t surface.

  2. Markhor.

Snow leopards like to eat them.

They also may have contributed some genes to certain domestic goat populations.

  3. ANSWER TIME

This is Norman, the markhor. From the Wiki on this animal:

The Markhor (Capra falconeri) is a large species of wild goat that is found in northeastern Afghanistan, Pakistan (Gilgit-Baltistan, Hunza-Nagar Valley, northern and central Pakistan, and some parts of Jammu and Kashmir), India, southern Tajikistan and southern Uzbekistan. The species is classed by the IUCN as Endangered, as there are fewer than 2,500 mature individuals which continued to decline by an estimated 20% over two generations. The Markhor is the national animal of Pakistan.

    1. So we see the Norm…here’s hoping he’s not Mean!
I personally am hoping he’s a magic Markhor…I mean, he’s got TWO unicorn thingies…gotta be twice as much good karma, doncha think?!

The average Pakistani goat is pretty reMarkhorable.

I wonder if they pee on their beards like regular goats…kinda looks like it. Glad I’m not a lady goat!
Thanks for sharing…especially Mikken and Morgana!

      1. LOL – magic markhor…my 6 yr old just read that as MAGIC MARKER! She said that that is an animal NOT a marker! And then went on to ask who would name an animal after a marker!
