LaSonya Hall, Do Something!

The Memphis rotary club report contained allegations of criminal activity by MAS employees including dogfighting and theft. LaSonya Hall, deputy director of the division which oversees MAS, told a local paper in November 2011 that if she got specifics on the allegations, the city would spring into action regarding prosecutions:

“Tell me who did it, what they did, when they did it,” she said. “Then we can do something about it.”

Good news LaSonya Hall: Not only do I have the Who, What and When – down to the second – regarding a number of crimes by MAS workers but you do too! Cause see, I got it from you. It’s your security camera footage. If you didn’t save yourself a copy, you can get it off the blog. Or you can look at the footage from any random day at MAS, I’m sure. So with these specifics in hand, what are you doing about it?

  1. In addition to the video footage of repeated and clear cut animal abuse, she has starving dogs to show “what they did”. The “who did it” would be whoever was supposed to be feeding them. I know, that would be a really tough one to figure out. May need to get a Nobel Prize for Science winner in there to figure this all out. Hello MAS! Stevie Wonder could see what the problem is….why can’t you?

    1. I feel certain that Ms. Hooks and Ms. Hall are poring over their numbers seeing if they can find some sort of “Adoptions are up 2% over this same time period in 2003” spin for the media.

      1. “Come to Yappy Hour! Bring home a new furry friend! Maybe even one that doesn’t have a collapsed trachea! We are only killing 72% if the animals that come in the door now! And we even feed some occasionally! And less than 20% end up in dog fighting rings! Where is my quarterly bonus?”

      2. I think this pretty much sums it up (on what will happen in the future here):

“Come to Yappy Hour! Bring home a new furry friend! Maybe even one that doesn’t have a collapsed trachea! We are only killing 72% if the animals that come in the door now! And we even feed some occasionally! And less than 20% end up in dog fighting rings! Where is my quarterly bonus?”

  2. She must be waiting for all the abusers to turn themselves in with signed admissions of guilt and photos of each occurance. Not happening.

Not only are MAS employees incompentant, but Lasonya Hall can’t do her job either, or should I say she HASN’T done her job. The crooks are STILL employed there, still abusing dogs & cats and the killing goes on & on.

Shame on Lasonya, the Mayor & Memphis.

  3. She will do nothing. She’s worthless. Maybe she can bring a carton of eggs and a Sharpie to the Shelter for a meeting with the employees like she did with us volunteers. She uses eggs and Sharpies to illustrate concepts because most people she talks to are too stupid to understand, ya know…spoken words.

    1. She’s the smartest person in the room no matter what room she’s in. Just ask her.

    2. Shirley, you were part of the egg exercise! As well as several Memphians you have worked with to rescue dogs seen on the webcams.

      1. I did not give her written permission to use my name or likeness as an egg. I shall have to get my friend Herman Morris at the city attorney’s office to help me send her a threatening letter. I’ll put an egg with a frowny face and very cross eyebrows in the box w/the letter so she understands.

      2. K, so the egg activity went like this. Before the meeting, LaSonya wrote items on the bottom side of each egg in a carton — volunteer program, foster program, special events, etc. We didn’t know what was written on the bottom til later. As we all came into the conference room, she had us pick an egg to initial. Since there were only 8 volunteers in the meeting, there were 4 eggs with no initials. So LaSonya marked them YB (for Shirley) and used 3 other Memphians who Shirley knows through the blog (and one particular rescue group).

At the end of the meeting, she went around and gave each of us our egg. The 4 eggs marked YB and such were given to MAS/city staff who were at the meeting, but didn’t initial eggs. As she handed us our eggs, she said, “X, what’s on the bottom of your egg? This issue is what X thinks is most important. And Y, what does your egg say? Y says that issue is most important,” and so on and so forth. Then she concluded her presentation by saying something along the lines of, “See, all these aspects are important to the shelter. They’re all things that are on our plates everyday. And if any one of them cracks, we’ve got a big mess on our hands.” Or some shit.

      3. oh my crud. Were there many suicides at this meeting? I would have been swinging from the rafters 5 minutes into the thing.

      4. Lol couldnt agree more. I feel like she was trying to explain something to a pre-schooler.

    3. Are you serious? How insulting of her! Now I really know how insufferably rude she is. People who are really smart do not talk down to other people. Shame on her.

      1. Would love to hear more about such elementary school tactics – the egg? _Please someone, enlighten us exactly what was spoken. Does the worthless trio Whoreton, Hooker, Lasagna) have naked pictures of the governor, or some high ranking official – that would be the only explanation I can think of as to why they all still have jobs- must be some huge blackmail scheme (naked pictures- heehee)

      2. Someone should file a FOIA request for the eggs. If LaSonya Hall wrote on them and used them during a meeting involving city business, they’re subject to FOIA request.

  4. I cannot believe there is not one person that is willing to wage a political war for our precious “voiceless”.Where are the politicians, attorneys, veterinarians, etc.Shame on you,Memphis Rotary Club! And to the mayor of Memphis:You are one big piece of nothing!

  5. Boy, I can’t wait to hear this! They better make it worth listening to.
Hopefully they finally do what’s right for the animals at MAS, and I don’t mean those abusive staff working there.

  6. Latest post on the Mayor’s wall.. he wants to talk about taxes…people still want answers on the shelter issues. Wonder how long it will take before these are deleted?

Alasdair Halleron I am alweays amazed at the long lines at weekends for white station and Lamar yet Appling has tumbleweed blowing acfross… I have it bookmarked on my Android so I can check before I go… 2 cars so one summer 1 winter. From midtown only takes 30 mins to get there, go through and come back. I’d be 2 hours at White Station. Then again don’t want too many people to figure it out, I want it all to myself!

Debbie Hoaglund Schlicher I have watched several videos of the same man mistreating animals…. slamming cage doors on puppies legs / hanging dogs from catch poles/ jerk dogs out of an upper level cage to the floor…etc….and wonder WHY this man who obviously has NO compassion for living creatures has this job ?? When are you Mr Mayor and the city council going to step up and take action for these animals ?? NO creature should be treated like this and if the man hates animals so much then he needs to find another job. I am asking you and the city council to take action and remove this man from this job !!!

Aaron Boatwright The cameras are nice and do help, but the whole process is still a giant waste of time.

Julie Ritson So what are you doing about the cruelty thats going on with these animals, why is it allowed to continue these workers should be sacked and by the way give them the same treatment. you make me laugh the solution is quite easy, if I was abusing an animal I would be done for cruelty so how come these workers aren’t being done for cruelty, i think you don’t care enough, America is well know for there cuelty to animals i see it on Sky TV all the time. As for the Mayor standing there with a dog in his arms he doesn’t fool me.

Josie Allan Please can you take action to ensure the safety and comfort of the animals left in the care of workers at the Memphis shelter. They do not ask to be there and truly deserve kindness, at the very least. Thank you.

Patsy Armitage I too have watched those videos of the same man mistreating the animals, I know times are hard and people are busy but dogs are loven creatures that will protect their owners before thinking about themselfs. I just think those little puppies deserve better. Thank-You
