Shelter Pet of the Day

Submitted by Jody:

Dog #252719 at the Memphis pound is not listed anywhere online as far as I know.  Her cage card states she was confiscated in an eviction case and has already been held for the legally mandated holding period.  The pound will be closed tomorrow, April 4.  If you are interested in helping this pet, please leave a comment here for Jody, who has placed a hold on her at the pound.

In 2012, MAS killed 69% of the pets in its care.

  1. I dont know whether to be angry or sad. The poor dog looks so hopeless. Please someone get em out of there.

  2. Thank you, Shirley, for posting her. Have never seen such sadness in a pet!!! Anyone can adopt her. I put a hold on her, in hopes that she would get extra time for networking….We will help anyway we can!!! Please continue to share – she deserves (as they all do) a chance to sleep in a warm bed with lots of love!

  3. I have some extra photos of this dog as well – but they don’t show much more of a different story. She is pretty much ‘shut down’ in the corner. :( Poor girl.

    1. Could you see her face at all Linda? It might help to determine what sort of a mix she may be if we could see her face. How many times a day does she get out for walks at MAS?

      1. You know the answer to that one, Shirley. ZERO. The only dogs that get any time at all out of their kennels are the select few that the volunteers are permitted access to.

It would not surprise me in the least if this dog is not eating and nobody notices or cares…

    1. Thank you Stephanie! Thats awesome! Please update us with pictures once she gets to your house, if you can. I have to see this dog happy.. Lol

      1. I am so happy to hear this. I’ve been thinking about this dog at work. No creature should feel so alone and scared.

  4. This has to be one of the, if not THE, saddest pictures of a dog I have ever seen! I hope she gets a chance to go to a loving home. I adopted two dogs like this. They are making wonderful pets…so appreciative of all the love we give them, in contrast to the UN-love they got at our kill “shelter”.

  5. Blue sky dog rescue. Ill be posting pics and videos of her progress and hopefully find this sweet girl a forever home!

    1. Bless you for getting her out of there. It breaks my heart to see this poor dog so depressed. She will repay your kindness many many times I’m sure.

  6. Please relocate this dog to another shelter, Foster family or Pet organization. The eviction was not the dog’s fault :'( It looks so sad :(

  7. Hi .. Please read and sign a petition i have initiated, in Change.org asking Maddies Fund ( http://www.change.org/en-IN/petitions/maddies-fund-please-help-save-every-homeless-stray-in-the-us-support-shelter-revolution-s-communal-housing-cage-free-project-for-shelter-pets ) to fund an initial project by Shelter Revolution which promotes cage-less, communal housing for shelter pets… and the wonderful thing is that killing is never an option in this model… re-hab and re-homing is ..if this project turns out successful, it can make amazing things happen for the welfare of shelter pets in USA.. Thank you and bless all those who care for the suffering of the helpless and innocent.

    1. This comment would be appropriate for an open thread but it has nothing to do with this post. Please place these type of comments in the open threads.

  8. Stephanie – Wonderful news. Please keep us posted with pics! It takes a village but we get it done!!! Thanks to all!

    1. how could we help? why are they not listed anywhere? how could anyone help them if we don’t know there there? isn’t that a pretty big city??? animal services?? so so many questions

  9. She is a very sweet dog, potty trained and is still a little shy, but so far she is an angel. She is still up for adoption, I am only fostering her until she finds a home. If you are interested in this sweet girl contact blueskydogrescue. Also the vet said she looks more like a hound mix than a rott, she isn’t that big.
