This is the first recall ever by Natura. Fifteen years as an independent manufacturer of high quality pet food and zero recalls. Purchased by Proctor & Gamble in mid 2010 and lo and behold, a massive and still expanding recall three years later. Natural Balance was just acquired by Mars, so another on bites the dust.
One thing that has caught my eye on the most recent recalls I’ve read about is that the FDA – not the manufacturer – has caught the Salmonella. And we all know how little the FDA tests food in general, never mind pet food. What happened to the promises of pet food companies that they would rigorously test their own products before shipping so we could feel confident we weren’t purchasing tainted products?
