That’s the signpost up ahead…

from the TV series "The Twilight Zone"

If you are a major Twilight Zone fan, you can be my friend.  Rod Serling and that entire original series rocked my world.  But even if you are not a geeked out follower of the show, you will probably enjoy the episode called “The Hunt”.  Rod Serling opens the show thusly:

An old man and a hound named Rip, off for an evening’s pleasure in quest of raccoon. Usually, these evenings end with one tired old man, one battle-scarred hound dog, and one or more extremely dead raccoons; but as you may suspect, that will not be the case tonight. These hunters won’t be coming home from the hill. They’re headed for the backwoods of the Twilight Zone.

It’s a sappy story so well done that you don’t even mind.  Some of the things I enjoyed from the episode:

  • Dogs belong in the house, not outside by themselves.
  • Dogs get fed from the owner’s plate.
  • Dogs aren’t impressed by liars.
  • It is well worth reciprocating a dog’s loyalty.

Watch it here.  Enjoy.

  1. This episode is one of our favorites too. If there’s a heaven, my dogs would have just as much reason to be there as I would. Heck, probably MORE reason.
