  1. Just wanted to double check about the time that the shelter is open….According to the article by Valerie on the Examiner.com it said that the shelter cut their hours so that they are closed on Sunday & Monday…just wanted to make sure it was accurate.

Just didn’t want people to think they can go to the shelter if it might be closed…..

  2. I want Fathead! My Harley cat would perhaps not approve, and I’m pretty sure my husband would also have a negative opinion concerning this idea.
But there HAS to be somebody closer to that end of the country that feels the same way, right?
What is his adoption fee? Can I sponsor him? Is there a rescue that could pull him?
Thank you Valerie for all your work to expose “shelters” and help animals. And thank you Shirley for bringing Fathead into my reality. There are similar cats in rescue here in my own back yard, maybe I should shop local?!

    1. The adoption fee is $95, which covers neutering, shots (already done). Sponsorships are not available at this time. If you want him, I can put you in touch with someone who can pull him.

      1. Since a lot of GA shelters don’t work with sponsorship funds, the rescues do it instead. For instance, Winging Cat Rescue, who saved the calico Pet of the Day Bitchie Barbie, definitely welcomes sponsorship funds and often can’t pull without them.

      2. Our local shelter(Spartanburg,SC) no longer allows sponsorships. It seems there was a generous contributor who sponsored a dog that was killed for kennel cough. Uproar ensued. Shelter’s response- no more sponsorships.

  3. Wow, I looked at this kitty’s photos on PF–he’s gorgeous and has a long, fluffy tail. They’re listing him as a Maine Coon cat.
