How heartbreaking! I hope that someone steps up and gives this poor guy a wonderful home.
Wow, this dog is up for adoption? I wonder if they tried to get any rescues to take him. Looks like he is in very bad shape. I hope someone saves him.
It seems hard to believe that anyone in an animal shelter would pose this dog for a photo in front of a cheery “Adopt Me” sign instead of getting him to a vet for care but yes, apparently he’s up for adoption.

Oh dear, oh dear. Just asked a rescue friend in NJ for her list of reliable pitbull rescues in NY/NJ and will send them his info when I hear back from her. I hope he makes it.
Holy Flarfflesputters! That poor poor dog!! These are exactly the ones that tear at my heartstrings so much, and I truly wish there was a way I could take him in right this instant, give him a huge super soft fluffy bed to lay on, and hand feed him bit by bit for days while he relaxes and gets pampered and gains weight.
Sol has about $600 in pledges for vetting on the Urgents Part 2 FB page so far. But doesn’t have a rescue yet.
I heard back from one rescue in NYC but she doesn’t have a foster available. If you’re in the area and are willing to sign on as a foster, please let me know. You would have to meet the rescue’s requirements for becoming a foster–no guarantee they would accept your offer.
Alternatively, if anyone wants to foster this dog personally, I will use the blog to help find him a permanent home.

So sad – they are nothing more than bones & flesh! I hope that there aer charges pending against the owner that allowed them to starve almost to death. This seems like a situation where they would be better off in a foster until they can find a furever home. Poor babies…
Please tell me he still does not look like this.
His intake date was Mar. 9 so he probably looks the same. He’s still at the shelter. Went to the vet today to be neutered but was rejected (probably too underweight). The GOOD NEWS is he has a rescue now!

They seem to stay in contact with the shelter so chances are it’s true. The other dog that was picked up with Sol–Sun–still needs rescue. I think the people on FB are working on him now.
Oh no they did not send him to a vet to be NEUTERED?! Hullo! Any vet worth his weight in salt would have said no we won’t be neutering him but thanks for bringing him over so we can admit him for treatment.
Seems pretty strange but I don’t know the shelter rules–maybe they all have to be neutered before they can be released? He’s supposed to go on a transport according to FB and is just waiting to be picked up.
They don’t know the name of the rescue–it’s not part of the FB scene.
Lack of care at that shelter is disgusting, though.
My bad, I looked at the date wrong. Thank you for letting us know though. Sounds similier to PAWS except that vet did neuter him and sent him back to the gravel.
In the meantime, how about they FEED THE DOG FOUR MEALS A DAY UNTIL HE PUTS ON WEIGHT.
“Went to the vet today to be neutered but was rejected” — are the people in this shelter that uneducated about dogs that they would think it possible that this dog was healthy enough to neuter? Who is running this shelter? How many skinny dogs like this have they tried to spay/neuter? Hope there are people in the area working on shelter reform.
I’d have to say that given the shape he’s in and unneutered BUT still up for adoption…something isn’t right at this shelter. Although their kill rates look better than most – I just don’t see how ANYONE would think to take him in to be neutered in that condition, let alone try to adopt him out like that! This poor baby & the one he came in with both need some TLC with a foster before they’ll be close to healthy enough for neutering and adoption.
