The trash can family made the local news in Memphis tonight. Check out the story, including an interview with Ona Cooper from Meows and BowWows, here. I just want to highlight one thing:
A city spokesperson said the video does not actually show the employee tossing the puppies into the trash can.
I’ll wait while you click the link to the article and verify that I did not make that shit up.
It’s true. The webcams only snap shots every 15 seconds and there isn’t one of a puppy in mid-air, halfway between the worker’s hands and the garbage can. So we really don’t know what happened in those photos. Let’s try to come up with some reasonable explanations, shall we?
Note: The online stories which receive the most comments are the ones that get followed up on by the media. So leave a comment on Ms. DiPrizio’s piece and/or drop her an e-mail to thank her for exposing the truth about the shelter.
I like the line that comes after yours:
“the employee was disciplined for not following shelter procedure.”
Really? disciplined? How so? Probably a promotion. And what the hell is shelter procedure? According to the webcams NONE of the employees are following shelter procedure and they should all be disciplined! *aka Shot!

While it’s not a documentary film I am still very glad the local news covered the suffering of the animals at MAS. It’s a beginning (I hope) of more good things to come.
It must be a trick done with lots of smoke and mirrors and funneh spokes speak. Did you actually SEE what came before the shot and after? heh heh heh.
She clicker trained them to jump in the garbage can on command.
Can I just brag that some of my dogs have learned this trick without ANY training whatsoever.

This is good news–not the original trash can episode, of course, but the fact that the (voting) public is starting to see what really goes on.
My dogs might jump into a trash can if they smelled something disgusting in there.
The bigger question is how many puppies are in the trash can that we don’t see or what are they piled on top of? Perhaps dead dogs?
I wrote everyone and sent the picture of the puppies in the trash can. I did manage to get one response back. I have taken to forwarding all the pictures to all the appropriate people so they see this right in front of their face.

Cindy, Jackie, and Allen are on the Advisory Board – there are 2 other members but these 3 are the only ones that TRULY care – I know they are working diligently in trying to help make some much needed changes at the hell-hole!
Once a dumpster diver always a dumpster diver. The puppies, being used to looking in garbage for food, jumped in hoping to find some dinner.

I got an e-mail about that too. I hope the women who surrendered that mama dog and babies see it and speak up to the local media.
I imagine their point is that the dogs might have been gently placed in the can rather than tossed. Because that would be so much better, you know. *Insert eye roll here.*
Since I don’t live in Memphis I am curious about how much longer this wretched woman will be on the board? Hopefully her term will be up soon and she won’t be re-elected??

As far as the “you dont know how the dogs got into the trashcan” thing, why is it that they always use this same “screenshots in time” excuse? Its tired. I wish I had a snarky comment for this, but sadly I do not, so I just voted for the first option because I felt like it was the funniest for some reason.
