We’ve all been there. You see a shelter pet in need online and feel an instant connection to the animal. You want to help. Reader Clarice puts it this way:

This dog was rescued from the interstate by GA state patrol troopers on May 21. Trooper Jason Kent was expecting her to run off when they stopped traffic on the freeway in an attempt to catch her:
They kept the front passenger door open.
“She just jumped up in the vehicle, like, ‘OK, I’m ready to go, now. Thanks for saving me,'” Kent said. “It shocked me.”
She’s been featured on the local news twice but no owner has claimed her and no one has stepped up to adopt her. Her stray hold time is up. Clarice called the pound this afternoon to ask how much longer they would keep her but wasn’t given a definitive answer.
Clarice says out of state adoptions are prohibited but a local rescue could pull the dog. Clarice has offered to “pay for this dog to be boarded, transported, or whatever else she needs.” If you are a GA rescuer interested in pulling this dog from the Gwinnett Co pound or an adopter wanting a new pet, please leave a comment here. We will help. There is a Facebook album of “urgents” at this pound where you can see this dog and many other beautiful animals as well.
The Gwinnett Co pound does not sound like a nice place to be – for animals or humans. I hope this girl makes it out.

“featured on the local news twice” and still no home for this dog — that is disheartening to hear. There must a lot of unwanted dogs in this area. I feel bad about all of the animals in that shelter, they must have a high kill rate if media attention can not even find one dog a home. :(

I just called the shelter and was told she was adopted today. Now there is one less to worry about.
They have lots of nice dogs at this shelter! Glad to read that she was adopted.
Someone posted on FB that she was still there 2 hours ago. Now I don’t know what to believe. I could not find a rescue that would call me back and help her.

Good news. I called the shelter just now and they looked up her record. She’s listed as adopted and awaiting spay/neuter. I had wondered about that because my shelter (not far from Gwinnett but in another county) doesn’t allow adopters to pick up dogs immediately. There’s a brief waiting period in case they change their minds and then there’s the spay/neuter. So the post on FB was correct–she’s still there AND she’s been adopted.
