If you are not that person intent on bending history itself but rather someone willing to perform small acts of courage to bring hope to those without it, do that. Perform those small acts of courage. Write a letter. Make a phone call. Hold a sign in silent protest. Stand alongside someone speaking out against the killing of shelter pets. Applaud when a taxpayer asks your county council why your taxes are being spent to kill animals and not to shelter them. Post a comment in response to your local pet killing facility’s Facebook plea for donations, telling them you won’t give money to a place that hurts dogs and cats. Post your local pound’s kill rates online, anywhere that’s appropriate. Donate a copy of Redemption to your local library, high school, county council or pound. Write a simple protest message in the memo line of the check you use to pay your pet licensing fees (e.g. Do not use to buy Fatal Plus). Stand up when the killing apologists tell you to sit down. Stay when they tell you to go away. Speak when they tell you to shut up. Ripple.
Wonderful. It is inspiring to see the ripples that one inspired person can cause. Others feel empowered when they see someone doing something. It ALL matters.

Can you offer advice or help of any kind to a lady who is deaf, and is trying to deal with the Memphis Animal Shelter, and the courts because they want to kill her guide dog…her story is on facebook. under “saving Mia”. I have read your blog, which as an animal lover and rescuer of stray cats for 40 years, was difficult for me to do. I am amazed and impressed with all that you do. I believe firmly in no kill shelters. Our local Humane Society is now a no Kill shelter,, thank goodness. This lady really needs some concrete advice and help, and she is still trying to find a lawyer to help her…she only has till 6/12/2013. Thank you in advance…Joanne
