  1. If I saw one around here, I’d say it was a grackle. And even if it isn’t, grackle is a good word. Grackle. Grackle, grackle, grackle. Mmmm. Grackle.


    This is a boat tailed grackle. Besides being a grackle, which is fun to say, here are a couple of other good tidbits from this bird’s Wiki entry:

    These birds forage on the ground, in shallow water, or in shrubs; they will steal food from other birds. They are omnivorous, eating insects, minnows, frogs, eggs, berries, seeds, and grain, even small birds.


    This bird’s song is a harsh jeeb, and it has a variety of typically grackle-like chatters and squeaks.


  3. GRACKLE. Type it a few times and it looks weird. Say it in a funny voice and it’s good for a million repetitions. Especially if you’re five.
