I came across this story first thing this morning. It never ceases to boggle my mind that the shelters first response to a terrified little puppy who nipped someone that stuck their hands in a trap cage will be held in quarantine for 10 days and then killed! Whatever possesses these people to leap to that conclusion as a given? Where is common sense?
Thankfully there are people who care and understand that a nip is nothing and that the puppy deserves to live. I suggest that the director be put in a cage and terrified and then see how he feels about being sentenced to death.
The 12-week-old puppy was rescued Sunday, Sept. 21, by Melissa Borden from The Devoted Barn, a Monroe-area rescue operation that specializes in acclimating feral dogs to human contact.
The Devoted Barn does good work with all of their animals. Check them out if you want to see some true success stories. Glad that this little guy is going to be another one of them.
Bless their hearts!
This is a clarification of the agreement made by Dooley:
Justice for Candy Middleton

This is a big step. This case will set precedent in Texas. If a LEO shoots a dog unnecessarily and beyond their scope of employment, they can be charged, indicted, lose their law license, and possibly convicted. The agreement that prosecution and defense came to was that if Mr. Dooley would sign away his license to never be a peace officer ever again as well as publicly before the court admit the signed statement below, then only would the prosecution drop the charges. If he ever tried to reapply for any type of peace officer license he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He will never again respond to anyone’s house and do this to their family ever again. That lets me rest easier at night. God bless you all. Justice for Candy! Pass Candy’s Law!!

FINALY! An outcome that I think is the best one possible. So much better than a few days in jail or a fine for cop shooting of a dog. http://www.kltv.com/story/26571115/strangers-drive-miles-to-attend-dooley-hearing
