I’ve been closely following the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon by armed men. (Lots of debate about what to call them: to me they are seditionists.) Almost lost in the drama are the animals that the refuge was created to protect. They are awesome:
I’ll add that, while normally I have little respect for birders because of their intellectually bankrupt demonizing of cats, I was excited to see that they are furious about the occupation:
