Mr. Wade, a regular rabble-rouser in the press, allegedly had a dog show prize “analyzed” and found it lacking:

The San Francisco dog show of August 1886 had precious few quality entries in the eyes of the correspondent for Forest and Stream. A few snippets from his remarks:

This petty gentleman could not get the registered name he wanted for his pointer so he took his frustration out on the puppy.
