  1. This is one of the saddest things I’ve seen on here yet. They couldn’t have let the dogs share the same kennel so that they could comfort each other?

What was wrong with these beautiful dogs that they never got a chance to be seen by the public and given a chance for a home?

Did their owner know they were going to be killed?

Maybe MAS sells their dead dogs to an animal rendering plant. They probably get paid per pound.

I’m still at work. I can’t cry here.

    1. u’d think that they would’ve let them stay together b4 they murdered them both, eh? i’m so sorry woofers…………….we don’t even know u’r NAME……whether u were boys or girls!!!! run free babies….u will b together where NOBODY will hurtu/abandon u EVER again…………

  2. WHEN ARE PEOPLE GONNA REALIZE NOT TO TAKE THEIR PETS TO THIS NAZI DEATH CAMP????????? if u take a pet 2 this place DO NOT THINK THAT THEY WILL b FOUND NEW HOMES……………….AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!!!! THEY WILL MURDER THEM!!!! PROBABLY JUST AS YOU ARE DRIVING OUT OF THE AREA!!!!!!!!!

    1. I think people who want to abandon their animals should be forced to see where their animals will be placed, see the kill room and actually watch an animal be killed, then offered the chance to speak with a counsellor who is skilled in networking and problem solving so that they are able to work out their other options before they hand their animal over to be killed.

    2. Maybe someone local could post a banner outside? This comment reminded me of this great quote from Issac Bashevis Singer:
“In their behavior toward creatures, all men are Nazis. Human beings see oppression vividly when they’re the victims. Otherwise they victimize blindly and without a thought.”
      — Isaac Bashevis Singer

I’d argue against the ‘all men’ part but..too many people don’t see the pain inflicted on animals as important. Why so cruel as to not let the dogs stay together, had to traumatize them before they killed them? Ugh.

      1. Sometimes people have no choice- they HAVE to give up their pet. And they choose to bring it to the shelter rather than dump it on the street. That is a responsible action.
Making them feel bad about their choice (watching a euthanasia, etc) changes nothing except to make them feel worse than they probably already are.
Don’t punish the people that are making a decision to act responsible for their pet. Change the shelter so the outcome for those responsible actions are different

  3. I wish I could just let out the biggest scream of frustration, anger, sadness and disbelief at this video, but I’d probably scar my kids for life. I so wish I lived closer. So Sad. :-(

    1. Ditto that Tammy, except my kids have fur. I WANT TO SCREAM AND SCREAM AND SCREAM! MEMPHIS STOP THE MURDERING!

  4. I understand the temptation to want to discourage people from leaving their pets at MAS but let’s not lose focus: MAS is supposed to provide a service to the community’s pets. That’s what taxpayers pay them for. MAS is not providing that service. Instead, they are operating a killing facility under the guise of a “shelter”. It’s not the taxpayers who need to be discouraged from utilizing their public services – it’s MAS who needs to start doing its job.

If school bus drivers were routinely drunk on the job and crashing everywhere – the public outcry would not be against the parents who sent their kids to school on the bus. It would be to replace the drunken killers with people whose ethics weren’t sunk at the bottom of a bottle.

    1. ah- should’ve read all the comments before replying above- you said pretty much the same thing i did :-)

  5. Just in tears — so, so sad. What is so hard to understand about opening the stray area again so some of these dogs have a chance???

  6. If everyone would take just one. There would be no euthanasia
of animals. If you can afford to go to casinos and McDonalds or fancy resturants you can afford to feed and spay your pet. Stop
making excuses spay or neuter your pet. If you need to chain them don`t get them. You need to be chained and starved. See how mit feels!! You don`t need a house or food. Lay in the cold and rain ,
how mdo you like it. THis all so sick makes me so sad. When the quote became popular “dear Loard make me be someday as good as my dog”. Nothing truer was said>>>>>>>>>>>>
