It’s an axolotl, but the eyes don’t look pink, so probably not a true albino.

ANSWER – AVERT YOUR EYES IF YOU STILL WANT TO GUESS!
Several of you are right because as it turns out, this animal goes by many names. I first came across it as “Mexican Walking Fish” but in fact, it is apparently best known as an axolotl. It is a salamander, not a fish. I do not know the definitive answer as to whether the one in the photo is an albino.

And, good news for everyone who finds these creatures irresistably cute: they are commonly kept as pets. So run out and get one (or five) and let us know how your axolotl afficianado life develops.

My friend owns one of these and they make awesome pets. Her guy begs for food and will let you touch him. I’m not allowed to feed him anymore because everytime he begs I give in!
