    1. raccoon dog, not wolf dog – the ones they kill in China for their fur – I think that is what this animal is

  1. ANSWER TIME

This is a raccoon dog. From the Wiki entry for this animal:

The raccoon dog, also known as the magnut or tanuki, is a canid indigenous to East Asia. […] Among the Canidae, the raccoon dog shares the habit of regularly climbing trees only with the North American gray fox, another basal species. The raccoon dog is named for its resemblance to the raccoon (Procyon lotor), to which it is not closely related.

  2. Oh darn, I was going to say “Pitbull”. Or maybe “Tan and Tab Golden Retriever”. But then I’ve read MAS’s descriptions too long…

  3. this is a raccoon dog, and they are indigenous to China. Their fur is used in “fashion”. Recently, on a petition site, I came across a petition against the use of raccoon dog fur by Marc Jacobs on some of his designs. I think they are considered part of the dog family, not that that should make a difference. No animal should be used for it’s fur…

  4. Well, whatever they are called, it’s UNcalled for to kill them for their fur! What an outrage! They look so peaceful and serene.. and very sweet.. but leave it to China to go kill a beautiful animal for it’s fur in the name of “fashion”… they all SUCK if you ask me. Food is another thing, especially the ones God put on this earth to feed us way back when they didn’t know any better, but for fashion, LET ME UP! These people will rot in hell for this. Just my humble opinion…………
