Young Hillary Clinton: Baby Bunny Defender

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” – Maya Angelou

bunghazi

It’s Silly Season in U.S. politics, where all manner of things get spotlighted in the media, including stories from 60 years ago. Snipped from an anti-Hillary Clinton article:

I interviewed Hillary’s grammar school classmate, Jim Yrigoyen, who told me the story of being ordered by Hillary to guard a warren of baby rabbits, and not give any of them away to neighborhood boys. When he did, recalled Yrigoyen, “Hillary hauled off and punched me in the nose.”

Hell to the yeah!

The author’s apparent intent in relating this anecdote was to smear Hillary Clinton but as far as I’m concerned: total fail. I love this story. You go girl.

Unfortunately she’s hand in hand with H$U$ and other hard core anomal rights (NOT welfare ) groups.

Adrianne, I think you have this reversed. The HSUS preaches animal welfare. They are not an animal rights organization. The HSUS is a huge culprit in preaching “humane” animal cruelty, “humane” animal slaughter, “humane” intense animal confinement. Unfortunately, they have been successful in their kill-them-humanely campaign. They do a lot of good. However the good does not mitigate the bad.

For real? You think that a Clinton Presidency will mean that you won’t be permitted to breed dogs?

You live in a strange world.

    • So you think it’s ok for a misogynistic, racist idiot who wants to ban 1.6 BILLION people from entering this country (and unless you are of Native American descent some where along the line your relatives were immigrants too) is a good idea??? You do, indeed, live in a strange world.

    I love this story, too.

Yes, I was disappointed to learn she may be taking advice from HSUS. But for me the bottom line is that I think it’s clear she wants our society to treat animals better. That’s a far cry from the guy who wants to drop food regulations that regulate the contents of dog food (alert, NSFW language):

“Every dog deserves a home, but every home does not deserve a dog.” Thank goodness Trump never had a dog. He’s one of those personalities who should only have a statue of a dog. That being said, I can’t help but respect the decision to honor ones limitations, especially when it comes to *owning* a defenseless animal.

I, unfortunately, have a son who is anti-animal. Years ago, after his family briefly talked about getting a dog, I threatened to kidnap it. Thank goodness they never followed through.

Doris Muller, HSUS is neither animal welfare nor animal rights. Just power and money. For one thing, Wayne Pacelle actively opposes animal abuse registries that would empower pet shelters to refuse adoption to people with animal cruelty convictions. HSUS tried (and happily failed) to prevent Tennessee from passing the first state-wide registry earlier this year. The “happy meat” corporate partnerships are definitely about money, power, and publicity. I agree with you on that and so does the vegan community and the Humane Farming Association, which I support. The Sea World/HSUS humane washing marketing deal is again under fire from the Dolphin Project’s Ric O’Barry (The Cove). The dispute was covered a few days ago on Animals 24/7. I’m a fan of O’Barry and have been ever since I read his book “To Free a Dolphin. While I agree with you that the bad does not mitigate whatever good HSUS does, you need to do a little digging and fact checking of claims regarding the work HSUS claims to be doing. Read “Malibu-Based Filmmaker Sues Humane Society” about Pacelle stealing $500,000 from the World Dog Alliance – signing a contract agreeing to help the fledgling group save dogs in Korea from the meat industry and then refusing to deliver. That’s legal fraud. HSUS’s Pets for Life program is an endless fundraising stream but HSUS is largely just the middleman helping to organize the work of service providers in low income communities. HSUS raised tens of millions this year for the program and the money actually being used for the intended purpose is pennies on the dollar. There has been a big exodus of high quality people at HSUS since 2014. Their brutal reviews on Glassdoor are quasi-resignation letters. One person leaving late last year was Melanie Kahn, in charge of their puppy mill campaign for 5 years. She was replaced by …. John (JP) Goodwin. The review/resignation letter dated March 28, 2016 was written by Betsy McFarland, who was in charge of companion animal programs for well over 20 years. Her rant is titled “The Humane Society of Wayne Pacelle” and she notes that “while HSUS fundraising is centered on dogs and cats, the funding for companion animal issues is practically nonexistent.”

As to Hillary, she is no longer the kind person she was as a child. Like HSUS, it’s about power and money for Hill and Bill. I am not voting for Trump but will sit this election out .The cute story about the bunnies reminds me of my own childhood where I protected some feral cats from my borderline psycho cousin Lester, pushing his hands away from the kitties and reading him my version of the riot act
