I Want to Believe
Memphis Mayor AC Wharton says that things at MAS are swell and he has every confidence in shelter leadership. I'm sorry Mr. Mayor, but I just can't reconcile the daily images of needless killing at MAS with the words "every confidence". But I still believe in Memphis. I believe in the kind-hearted people of the … Continue reading I Want to Believe

Follow-ups
Many of you have asked about the three dogs featured as Shelter Pets of the Day on May 23. I have been trying to get some definitive information but so far, no luck. Snapshots from MAS
If you are like me, you probably think you could not possibly get any sadder right now. Well, forget that. This dog breaks my heart. I just lit a candle for you, Mr. Best Goggie in the World. You are remembered. You are loved. Memphis, please - stop the killing.

Matthew Pepper – Please Reply
Memphis Animal Services director Matthew Pepper no longer answers my e-mails. Could somebody ask him about these two screenshots? Maybe check with Mayor Wharton as well. Hell, ask anybody in Memphis you think might be able to provide an answer. How much longer do they think they can simply ignore, excuse, and cover up this kind … Continue reading Matthew Pepper – Please Reply
Did you receive any replies to your e-mails about MAS?
A number of people have shared responses they've received from shelter advisory board member Cindy Sanders (I got one myself) and many of us recall city councilwoman Janis Fullilove's infamous "So what?" reply. I'm interested in hearing if anyone has received any additional responses. A reader sent me the following reply she received from the … Continue reading Did you receive any replies to your e-mails about MAS?
